A little Solstice reminder for you

This time of year has a sacred quality to me. With the light waning, we are invited to turn our focus inward for review and reflection. Yet, this can be tricky during the holiday season!!

This is a little reminder for you, to take those small breaks and keep in mind that this time of year calls you toward a bit of a different focus!

We are deep into the Autumn season of waning sunlight, and the shortest day of the year quickly approaches, on December 21st.

The moon is also waning right now, and soon the moon and sun will both approach their darkest day.

I always like to make note of this moment each year,
because it’s the drawing down of the moonlight,
at the same time that the sunlight is doing its grand closure for the entire year!

Especially during Dark Moon* in early December (*this is the darkest days of the moon, just before new moon each month), the sun and moon will both be at their lowest point, and you may feel that introspective pull, or just a lack of initiative or focus.

You might feel that downward pull as discouragement, or lack of clarity, or just, “I don’t feel like doing anything, right now!”

Let yourself sink into just being (and being enough!), rather than doing, during those moments. This is restorative and necessary!

These times are blessings in disguise, as they offer us time to step back, catch up, and just breathe.

And you can rest assured, knowing that this phase will pass. “Okay, then, it’s that waning time again, so I’ll just give myself extra TLC, pay attention to my needs, and know there will be a new cycle and shift of energy, soon.

Indulge in the things that you’ve wanted to catch up on, stare into space, putter, try something completely different, or just take a nap. Give yourself very self-loving and reassuring messages, too!

Take little mini-breaks; do these other things for even a few moments during super-busy days, and you’ll be giving yourself the message that you notice, and you care!

Do you have any little seasonal pauses that are especially fulfilling for you?

I wish you well during these introspective days.

Blessings of the season to you!
